Out of Balance – Critique of the Present

Information Design After Otto Neurath

ARCH+ Magazine and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation have just announced a new international competition to find new ways of designing information. Out of Balance – Critique of the Present asks entrants to tackle a broad brief, recognizing that we exist in a particularly precarious time, and in a flood of information. The central issue is how should we represent and communicate – and therefore conceptualize and understand – the world around us in the contemporary context. Taking the master of information design, Otto Neurath as a touchstone, the competition encourages interdisciplinary international teams to register by 30 November 2012, and to submit final entries by 31 January, 2013.
