On February 12, 2012, protestors gathered outside Parliament House to oppose the latest round of austerity measures being pushed through by the government. Images of these – at times violent – protests proliferated but photographer Yiannis Hadjiaslanis opted to document their effects in a series called After Dark, shot when the streets and squares had again emptied out and fallen silent: “I set out to record under artificial city light”, he says, “Walking around the historic centre offers the experience of a deserted and battered-down ghost city, a spectre of what it stands for”.
